An initiative to make placemaking more commonplace
The Common Place Fund (CPF) is a funding outreach of Heidt and Depth. It exists to make placemaking projects more achievable for individuals or organizations on a mission to do good in their community. By assisting in responding to the limitations imposed on them by the built environments – or lack of built environments – around them, we are empowering these people to more effectively live out their purpose and vision.
GRANT OPPORTUNITIES
The following financial assistance is currently available from CPF:
2023 Pilot Grant
We are looking to give $500 to one (1) nonprofit or NGO to assist them in accomplishing a placemaking project that meets the following criteria.
Requirements:

Describe an ongoing or proposed project you would like to accomplish in one of the following categories: community planning, land planning, architectural design, interior design, landscape design, public art, and/or construction. Alternatively, you can propose using the grant to hire project management or procurement services for a project in one of these disciplines.

Meet the criteria set forth by our granting partners at National Christian Foundation. Refer to questions #5 and #6 in the CPF FAQs for more details on these requirements.

Describe how you will report to Heidt and Depth how your award was used if you receive one. This could be as simple as sending us a photo over text message, for example.
Preferred applications:

Preference will be given to applications with demonstrated need for the project to be completed to accomplish the applicant’s vision or mission effectively.

Preference will be given to projects that will be completed in 2024.
How to apply (it’s really simple!):

Consider what placemaking project(s) you have going on or hope to complete in 2024. Feel free to dream and be creative. For example, your project could be as simple as painting a room yourself and using the award to buy supplies, or as complex as resolving traffic in your neighborhood or even building a university. If we like your application, we may also be creative in helping you achieve it if we can’t provide the funding you need.

Recipient announced: December 22, 2023 (target)
Award distributed: December 31, 2023 (target)
Please be aware that we will make our best effort to meet the dates listed as “target,” but there are a variety of logistical factors which may affect these dates. Some of these factors are outside Heidt and Depth’s control.
What is meant by "pilot grant?" This is the first ever CPF grant. Applications and feedback received during this process will be used to prototype future CPF grants. Depending on how this round of applications plays out, future grant opportunities like this may or may not be made available through CPF.
